Review: Chrissy Foreman C. Art

This blog post is all about a recent trade I did with a brilliant artist from Australia named Chrissy Foreman C.

We met by chance on Etsy not long ago. She really loved my soaps, I really love her art, so it was a match right away! ;) I honestly don't know how to properly describe her art. The first thing that caught my eye about it, is that it reminded me a lot of the bright colored paisley fabrics my mother used to sew with a very long time ago. I really miss those super bright patterned soft fabrics. Then there is an almost Shamanic-like aspect to it, like say a slight Aboriginal, Native American, or Tribal feel to it, along with how the lines and colors flow, it then causes it to come "Alive" and appear organic.

Art can be a very powerful thing at times. Once in a while I will come across something that I could swear I've dreamed about or had a vision of before I ever saw it in real life. A "Deja Vu" sort of thing, I guess you could say ;) The print I received from her, titled "Storms Bring Rainbows" reminded me of a very lucid dream I had a long time ago and to this day still get glimpses of from time to time in real life, without even consciously looking for it. To me, it means this woman truly puts her imagination and soul into her work and does it for her love of art and not just to make money. To me, that is a true artist.

She is getting some of her unique artistic patterns put onto fabrics as well. Perhaps this is more of a sign that I need to take up sewing again, hmmm? ;)

The print I received was of SUPERB quality. It did not even look like a print at first. I thought "Oh my, poor girl accidentally sent me her original!" but no, she just uses very nice quality inks and papers hehe :) It was in a protective slip cover and came with the artist card and everything, very professional looking indeed. Also, I am in America and got the print very fast from Australia, like less than a week.

Review: Dino Felipe's Shirts & Schtuff Inc.

This blog post is about a DYI hand dying and creative clothing reconstruction artist in Miami Florida named Dino Felipe. You may know him as a musician and or visual artist but he recently started a line of hand dyed shirts, reconstructed clothing and jeans business.
I got to try out his skills firsthand recently and have to say I am quite impressed! The shirt I ordered is called the "Bird ~ Mountain" shirt. He lets you pick up to 3 colors and he hand dyes and paints the abstract patterns on himself. Of course, also one of the cool things about it, is he autographs the inside of the neck for you like a one of a kind piece of art :)
I ordered mine in green and purple. It came out very lovely and it is one of my favorite shirts now. Oh and yeah, you can wash the shirts! The service he provided was really quick, too. He made the shirt and sent it out something like 3 days after I paid, and it got all the way up here in North Carolina in only 2 days.
Here is a photo of me in my custom made Dino Felipe Bird~Mountain shirt! <3

If you would like to see more of his work and contact him for a comission of your own, you can do so by visiting his Facebook business page here.

To learn more about Dino Felipe the Artist, a link to an interview in the Miami Lead is located here.

"Art is something that I think is everywhere and everything — like music. There’s art in science, there’s art in math, there’s art in text — there’s art in everything, and it’s just something beautiful. So, I’m not going to deny something that’s beautiful." -Dino Felipe

2011 Great So Far

So Far 2011 is going a bit better than 2010. I can't even begin to list how many depressing things there were back in 2010. Wow. Just "UGH!" is all I can say. I've made a lot of new friends recently, also finally have a NICE boyfriend! It seems like anything I start to need ends up falling right in my lap. Like for instance I have been needing to brush up on Algebra for school, I can't really afford books right now but it turns out a friend of mine just finished her college Algebra, so she gave me all of her old books to use. Things like that I am very grateful for. It feels good to have things I need instead of freaking out and struggling my way through everything.

As for the Clean Green Bunny business; it is going okay. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. I love making soap and it seems to be almost therapeutic to me. I just got a few new oils to use for soaps and am having a hard time deciding which ones I want to use first. I'm like a kid in a candy shop when I go into the oils shop with a decent amount of money in my hands!

I started listing things on Art Fire and Etsy again recently too. I'm hoping it will boost my sales some. Other than that, that's about all I have to update with :P

I hope everyone's 2011 is going great so far!

Ocean Breeze Triangle Soap Coming December 20th

This is a sneak peak at a new soap that will be in the shop on December 20th 2010. This limited edition set of soaps is inspired by a talented Miami Florida artist by the name of Armando "Feathers" Santelices (AKA Mister Feathers, AKA Peasants With Feathers) and was created exclusively for the promotion of the Triangle Alien Family, not to mention it just looks all around awesome, smells great, and will make your skin feel EXQUISITE. No more alligator or crocodile skin for you! ;)
Rather you have any idea of who he or the Triangle Alien Family are or not, these unique handcrafted soap sets are sure to please you as well as your guests.
The soap was created using the cold process method using organic oils of olive, coconut, canola, and also pure, unrefined shea butter. It has been scented using a paraben and phthalate free Ocean Breeze fragrance oil, which is a light unisex scent that is not all too overpowering like many other commercial grade Ocean Breeze scents on the market. The blue swirls, which give the soap a very close resemblance to a lapis lazuli stone, were created with cosmetic grade FDA approved colorant powder.
The sets of soap are tied together with blue satin string, and have hand dyed blue and white feathers added to the bow at the top of the triangle.
There are only 3 sets available and each set comes with 3 small triangle sized bars of soap. Each bar weighs around 0.75 of an ounce which gives you about 2 ounces of soap total.
Each set will be only $3 each, so be sure to check the Clean Green Bunny shop at www.cleangreenbunny.com on December 20th 2010 and grab up your own before they're all gone!
